What you get

  • Your likely A-level Further Maths mark, your weakest area and a three-step plan of free lessons, practice and a timed test, straight away. No account needed.
  • Print the plan or save it as a PDF.
  • With a free account: every answer worked through and a two-week plan.
  • Your result and plan stay in your account, ready when you come back.

How the range is worked out

  1. The test is marked out of its questions.
  2. We add one right and one wrong answer, so a short test never claims a perfect or a zero mark, and show one standard error either side, rounded out to 5%.
  3. This mark is our practice measure on Core Pure, not an A-level grade. A full timed paper is the closer check.

Questions

Is it like the real exam?

The topics are. Core Pure 1 and Core Pure 2 are 75 marks in 90 minutes each, with written answers and every question compulsory. These are multiple choice so they can be marked at once; each wrong option is a slip the mark scheme warns about.

What does it cover?

Complex numbers (arithmetic, conjugate roots, loci, de Moivre, exponential form and roots of unity), matrices (transformations, determinants, inverses and three planes), roots and coefficients, and proof by induction.

Is it only for Edexcel?

The questions follow Edexcel 9FM0, but complex numbers, matrices and induction are core on AQA and OCR Further Maths too, so the result is useful for any board.

Do I need an account?

No. Your mark, your weakest topic and a free plan show straight away. A free account adds every answer explained and keeps them.

I am in Year 12. Is it too early?

Year 12 usually starts with complex numbers and matrices. Sit it now and again after each topic, and look at the topics rather than the total.
