Questions people ask

What hypothesis tests are on Edexcel A-level Maths?

Year 1: one- and two-tailed tests for the proportion p of a binomial distribution. Year 2: tests for the mean of a Normal distribution with known variance, and tests for zero correlation using the product moment correlation coefficient.

What is a critical region?

The set of values of the test statistic that would lead you to reject H₀. For a binomial test, find it from cumulative probabilities so that its probability is as close as possible to the significance level without going over.

How should I write the conclusion?

Say whether the result is significant, then say what that means in context, with the word 'evidence': for example, 'There is sufficient evidence that the proportion of late deliveries has increased.'
