Questions people ask

How many required practicals are there in A-level Physics?

AQA A-level Physics (7408) has 12. Required practical 2 (interference with a double slit and with a grating), 7 (a mass on a spring and a pendulum) and 8 (Boyle's law and Charles's law) each have two parts.

Are the required practicals examined?

Yes. AQA's written papers assess knowledge of the practicals and the skills in them, and Paper 3 section A also sets practicals you have not done. At least 15% of the marks across the papers test practical skills.

What is the practical endorsement?

A separate pass or not-classified result reported with your A-level. Your teacher awards it after watching you meet the five CPAC competencies across at least 12 practical activities.
