What were the STEP grade boundaries in 2026?
They are in OCR's explanation of results for STEP 2026, on its STEP scoring and results page. Each paper is out of 120 and graded on its own: type the boundary for your grade above with your mark.
What does a grade 1 in STEP mean?
Grade 1 is "very good", the grade most Cambridge maths offers ask for. Only an S is higher.
When are STEP results released?
In 2026 candidates got their results at 8am UK time on 13 August, after STEP 2 on 4 June and STEP 3 on 10 June.

How we work this out
What it does
Type the STEP 2 or STEP 3 boundary for your grade from the explanation of results, and your mark out of 120: see the gap.
STEP 2 and STEP 3 for any year: each paper is out of 120 and graded S, 1, 2, 3 or U on its own. No boundary figures: OCR does not allow its tables to be republished, so you type the boundary from its explanation of results.
Method
- Pick the qualification and the papers or route you sit. We show the papers and the marks each is out of.
- Type the boundary for your target grade from the awarding body's document for the series you want to compare with.
- Enter your marks, leaving blank any paper you have not sat. Where a paper is weighted, its mark is multiplied by the weighting first.
- We add your marks and compare the total with the boundary you typed: the gap, and the share of the remaining marks you would need.
