Can you resit?

Your result

A-level resits run in the summer exams from 10 May to 22 June 2027, with entries due by 21 February and results on 12 August.

Questions people ask

Can you resit A-levels?

Yes. Anyone can sit an A-level again in a later June, at school, at college or as a private candidate at an exam centre.

Can you resit A-levels in November?

No. A-level exams run in May and June only. The November resits are for GCSE Maths and English Language.

Do I have to resit every paper?

Yes. A-levels are linear, so you sit all the exam papers again. A coursework mark or practical endorsement can be carried forward.

Which grade counts?

Both results stay on your record, and you use the higher one. Some university courses, often medicine, set extra rules for resits, so check each course page.

When is the entry deadline?

The boards' deadline for June 2027 is 21 February 2027. Exam centres set earlier deadlines, so ask yours in the autumn.

How we work this out

What it does

Pick your subject and board: your June 2027 paper dates, the entry deadline and what happens to coursework.

A-levels from AQA, Pearson Edexcel and OCR, sat in England, Wales or Northern Ireland, for the June 2027 series.

Method

  1. Paper dates are read from each board's final June 2027 timetable; the entry deadline and results day from JCQ's key dates.
  2. A-levels are linear: every exam paper counts towards the grade, so a resit means sitting all of them again. A coursework mark or practical endorsement grade can be carried forward instead of repeated.
